Abilities 2 Business is a Ministry of Housing and Social Development funded program, delivered in partnership with Sustainable Employment Network Inc. (SENI). This program is designed to assist persons with disabilities (PWD) who desire to work may have career interests that can be better managed through self-employment.
Services are only available to two categories of clients:
1. Persons with disabilities who are non-BCEA clients - these persons are accepted into Achieve and wish to receive training and support in preparation for their business launch.
2. BCEA clients who have either a PWD or PPMB designation - these persons are accepted into Achieve and wish to receive training and support in preparation for their business launch.
Abilities 2 Business is a combination of three distinct modules:
Module 1 - Orientation and Self Assessment
The orientation will provide an overview of self-employment as an employment option, while the Self-Assessment will allow the client to assess their self-employment capacity and suitability.
Module 2 - Entrepreneurial and Business Viability Assessment
The assessment will:
Measure the client's aptitude for self employment;
Assess the client's motivation, determination, resilience, energy, etc that the client will need to manage a business; and
Assess the viability for the client's business concept.
Module 3 - Business Launch and Support
The module provides coaching services to self-employed clients to assist them in their business launch and provide support (ie: guidance, directions and coaching) for a period of 12 months.
