Affordable Housing Program

Canadian Mental Health Association for the Kootenays provides safe and affordable housing for low to moderate income families, seniors, and vulnerable populations to help them stay in their community, close to family and friends.
In partnership with BC Housing, we currently provide a number of housing programs offering different levels of support in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Golden, Creston, Trail and Castlegar.

Peter Johnson Complex
The Peter Johnson Complex in Cranbrook is comprised of 18 one-bedroom housing units intended for low to moderate income older adults. These units are operated on a cost recovery basis and monthly rents have been established at market or low end of market rates. Tenant applicant monthly rent values are determined, as either market or low end of market, based on income thresholds and other specified eligibility criteria.
Abbott Gardens
Located in Cranbrook, these apartments accommodate low income people with disabilities who are able to live independently. There are 23 units consisting of 19 one bedroom and 2 two bedroom. Three of the one bedroom units are modified.
Gatehouse Gardens
Located in Kimberley these apartments accommodate a variety of tenant groups by making available independent housing with a primary focus on accommodating people with disabilities who are able to live independently. There is a mix of one, two and three bedroom units, with some being modified.
Sonja’s Gardens and Molnar Gardens
These family housing complexes in Cranbrook and Golden include one, two and three bedroom townhouses. Rent is based on family income levels and is augmented by subsidies made available through BC Housing.
Baker Gardens and Crestbrook Garden
Baker Garden is a 36 unit housing complex in Cranbrook and Crestbrook Gardens is a 24 unit housing complex in Creston that are specifically designed for low to moderate income seniors and people with disabilities.
Mountain View Village
Mountain View Village, located in Cranbrook, houses 65 seniors and people with disabilities with incomes at or below the housing income limit.
Victoria Gardens
Victoria Gardens is a 20 unit apartment complex located in Cranbrook and houses seniors, individuals and families with incomes at or below the housing income limit.
Riverview Court
The first of four housing complexes located in Castlegar, Riverview Court encompasses 28 residential units for low income families and individuals.
Maranatha Court
Located in Castlegar, Maranatha Court is a housing development of 34 residential units for low income families and individuals.
Pineridge Court
Pineridge Court, also located in Castlegar, contains 14 residential units for low income families and individuals.
Rosewood Manor
The final Castlegar property is Rosewood Manor. This housing development offers 10 residential units for low income seniors who are able to live independently.
Anderson Gardens
Located in Nelson, this complex is for seniors (ages 55 and older) who are able to direct their own care and whose health will be better managed by support and care within a community setting. One meal a day is provided, along with social and community connection opportunities and 24-hour daily response buttons.
Silver City Gardens
Located in Trail this complex is designed for seniors (aged 55 and older) and persons with disabilities who are able to live independently.
