Take-a-Break Support Group
May 13, 2026
Take A Break Support Group is a supportive and welcoming space for parents and caregivers of children/youth under the age of 19 who experience varying levels of mental wellness needs, including diagnosed or suspected autism and/or ADHD. This group was created with one important focus in mind: supporting the parents and caregivers behind the caregiving role.
Parenting children with unique emotional, behavioral, or neurodiversity needs can be rewarding, exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming — sometimes all at once. Many caregivers spend so much time meeting the needs of others that their own well-being is placed on the back burner. Take A Break offers an opportunity to pause, connect, and focus on yourself without judgment or pressure.
This group is not about being the “perfect” parent. It is about being real. It is a space where lived experiences are welcomed, where challenges can be acknowledged honestly, and where parents can connect with others who truly understand the ups and downs that can come with caregiving.
Throughout the group, participants will have opportunities to:
- Build supportive connections with other parents and caregivers
- Learn practical coping strategies and everyday tools
- Explore self-care in realistic and achievable ways
- Reduce feelings of isolation and burnout
- Share experiences in a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment
- Be reminded that they are not alone in what they are carrying
Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, uncertain, hopeful, or simply in need of connection, you are welcome here. Take a Break is about creating space for honesty, encouragement, laughter, support, and practical growth — one step at a time.
Take A Break Support Groups occur MONTHLY on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 7pm – 8pm at 300 – 1000 21st Ave N Cranbrook.
Hope to see you at the next Take A Break Group
